Blagojevich Closes State Parks
9/8/2008
Governor Rod Blagojevich has recently ordered the closure of about two dozen state parks, forests, and historic sites across the state, including 2 locations in Shelby County. Wolf Creek State Park and Hidden Springs State Forest are set to be closed indefinately in a budget and spending battle that has riddled Illinois for the past year.
The bulk of the state-wide closings appear to clearly target Republican State Senate districts, this after attempts to close state corrections facilities in solid republican districts failed dramatically for Blagojevich from an embrace of grassroots local support.
Please contact your local legislators to voice your feelings and thoughts on the closure of these facilities. Please also contact the Offie of the Governor to strenghten the opposition to these closings.
